I'm officially a local radio personality.
My classes are going quite fantastically thusfar.
I'm doing my thesis this semester in a very cool way.
Without a DVR....and it sucks.
Allegra is my new roomie.
I think that's it.

So, this song came up in conversation with a bunch of girls, so I had to find the lyrics and then read them out loud.
It's kind of brilliant in a completely fucked up kind of way:
I make a Juice box wet, wet, wet, wet, wet, wet
I make a Juice box drip, drip, drip, drip, drip, drip
I make a Juice box talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk
I make a juice box pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop
My eyes low
Chinky like Mr. Miyagi
Extra fresh, I'm drippin' to isa miyaki
Wax on, wax off like Karate kid
28's on tha chevy, ya know what it is
Me & my dogs hit the club like bam
The trunk be like wam
Them hoes be like damn
Walk up in the club, neighborhood superstars
Buyin up the bar, cushin' a cigar
A bitch on each arm, and both them hoes foreign
Menagin' widcha boy, tryna drink my unborn
Lickin' on each otha, acrobatics wid they tounge
Shake it like Beyonce, go ring the alarm
I make a Juice box wet, wet, wet, wet, wet, wet
I make a Juice box drip, drip, drip, drip, drip, drip
I make a Juice box talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk
I make a juice box pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop
I go hard
Hard like a rock
I pogo stick a bitch
Until she holla stop
The juice box wet
Drippin' like a model
Treat her like a rope
And tie her in a knot
Hood nigga shit meet me at the travelodge
Bring some redbulls and some Trojan extra large
Work a big chop, she gon lose a lot of carbs
Make that juice box talk, man I make that pussy fart
The girl can't win
Once I get it in
I turn her ass over
And make her back In
I beat it for an hour
Than I rest for 10
And grab another rubber
And do it all again
I make a Juice box wet, wet, wet, wet, wet, wet
I make a Juice box drip, drip, drip, drip, drip, drip
I make a Juice box talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk
I make a juice box pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop
Is it the way I say my name
The way I rock my chain
The way I walk into the club
Drive the hoes insane
I roll with hood figgas
Real niggas, money gettas
Fuck with us, ay choppa hit ya
Choppa split ya shit
Uh enough of all that
Tryna make a juice box wet fall back
Now whip it out what do u call that?
She got skin babygirl, haul ass
But I just follow the drip, follow the drip... now
She's all on my dick, she's all on my dick... wow
She's rockin' her hips, she's rockin' her hips... pow
Now she's callin' it quits, callin' it quits...
I make a Juice box wet, wet, wet, wet, wet, wet
I make a Juice box drip, drip, drip, drip, drip, drip
I make a Juice box talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk
I make a juice box pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop

I officially have the greatest new icon ever.
I discovered the alternate version of the Subterranean Homesick Blues sequence on my Don't Look Back DVD the other day and thought OMFG that is fantastic!!!!
Therefore: Screencap city. I look forward to using it often.
Gah, the beauty of it just kills me....he never could have known what that word would come to mean to internet geeks everywhere.
Next step: Do several screencaps, animate the shit out of it. Woo. When I have time.
Love,
Rosie

Well, today was a waste.
I got a call at 5 from Cinema Lab saying that they were just shipping off my film.
Now, I can only pray that the postal service does what it's supposed to and gets it to me tomorrow or by Wednesday at the very latest.
At least I got my laundry done.
No way I'm sleeping tonight, but I'll try.
How long can it take to edit a 2 minute film, right? Right??

Wall-E was an absolutely perfect film.
I've always been impressed by their work, but this surpassed any expectations I have.
For the first time, it really looked like it had been shot with a camera....the constant use of rack focus nearly brought me to tears.
Also, they have a way of making any sort of character endearing that is really admirable. Ever the cockroach sidekick was adorable.

Friday:
Went to the Taste. Stood in line for 4 hours. Got front and center spots, with Ray. Alejandro was magnificent...I actually had tears in my eyes when he played "Rosalie". When the 97's hit the stage, Rhett saw me, grinned and waved. I got giggly. Then they launched right into "The Fool" and I didn't stop dancing or singing the entire time. Rhett dedicated "Melt Show" to everyone singing and dancing in the front row (so, basically....me.) Murry waved to me at one point too. The new songs sounded fantastic, and the old ones felt so right. I had forgotten how much I really loved this band. After the show, Ray and I went and talked to my friend Brandon, then ran into a guy who saw my holding the Gram Parsons biography I'm reading. The guy asked how old I was, and then was amazed that someone so young loved Gram. Hell, I've adored Gram since I was 16, is that really so strange? Anyway.......Ray and I headed over to the Best Buy tent, on the off chance that the 97's were signing autographs. When we arrived, they weren't there, and the woman at the tent said that they never confirmed that they were going to do it. So, we hung around just in case. And whaddayaknow....they came! We got at the end of the line of about a dozen people. (There was one young girl, couldn't have been more than 13, who didn't even know who they were, but wanted to get them to sign something anyway. I'd have to guess it was because Rhett's cute. Which he is. Oh god, is he ever.) I had Ray bring my vintage "Wreck Your Life" tour poster that Rob gave to me a couple years back. I handed it off to Ken and Phillip and asked if they'd sign it, while Rhett and Murry talked to a family of 4 who were getting them to sign the homemade 97's shirts they were wearing. Ken told me about a gig they played on that tour when the venue wouldn't pay them. They all laughed over the ashtray of ciggies next to Rhett, Ken's orange hair, and how young they all looked. I got hugs from Rhett and Murry. They congratulated me on making it to 21, and asked where I lived in South IL now. A couple more fans came up behind me and I said my goodbye to those beautiful boys. I was *squeee*ing all evening. I need to get my poster framed now.
Ray and I were going to head down to the Music Box to see Stop Making Sense, but I'd gotten way too much sun....I was burnt and exhausted. So, we just stayed in a watched crappy Friday night TV.
Saturday:
Went out west to Fitzgerald's for the American Music Fest. We got there just in time to see Ms. Rosie Flores, the Rockabilly Filly. She certainly rocked! She played with the Pine Valley Cosmonauts (headed by Jonboy Langford), and did a couple of her own songs, as well as some Wanda Jackson, Memphis Minnie ("Me and My Chauffer", hellz yeah!) and Johnny Cash. Half of the audience was dancing. It was fantastic! I wore my tacky, polyester, thrift store poodle dress...if I'd only had myself a pair of cowgirl boots, I would have looked perfect! (Random: Just did a search for veggie boots...there is a ridiculously cute pair on eBay for 20 bucks. If I didn't just spend so much money on other weird stuff, I'd buy them straight away.) I got to talk to the lady herself, and she is a sweetheart and a royal badass. She must be close to 60 and she's a tiny woman, with great boots. We talked about how many records she's been on (40+) and how awesome it is to be named Rosie. (*squeee*) I can't wait for her record to come out...it'll be sometime next year on Bloodshot. After that, we got into the long line to get into the club, caught the last few songs of Joe Ely's set, and then snuck up to the front for John Dee Graham. John Dee is a sullen, pessimistic old man, who brings hope to every audience he plays for. He's a hell of a guitar player too. And his backup band, the Fighting Cocks are incredibly talented and very cute. Overall: Great set, thoroughly enjoyable.
And then there's Maude...er...I mean Robbie. We talked to Mike, the bassist for a minute before the show, because he saw me (very excited) standing at the front of the stage. He told me they had something planned. Oh, did they ever. Robbie came out in blue suspenders, a red shirt and a wide, white tie. They began the set with an satirical song telling America that's it time to just give it up. It turned into a hilarious sketch that involved Grant (the guitarist) trying to convince Robbie that maybe he should sing something a little more patriotic, since it was the 4th of July weekend. They wound up covering a couple really ridiculous, almost xenophobic patriotic songs that they had found on the internet. The evening continued with Robbie getting back into his stuff, all of which I knew (except for a couple songs I wasn't as familiar with.) Oh! And he played "Summer Days" by Bobby D! (Complete with a couple verses in a perfect Dylan impression.) The highlight of the evening: In the middle of a song (I forget which one) he peeled off the suspenders and dropped them on the ground. Then after the song he picked them up, said "I'm never going to wear these again." Looked at me "I'm giving these to the young lady up here." I don't know if I said thank you, or if I said anything at all, but they were mine. I've worn them every day since. Well, it's been 2 days....but whatever, they hold my skirt up.
We didn't get home until after 3, but it was soooooooo worth it.
I shot yesterday. Fuck the Bolex, it hates me. I'm absolutely terrified that none of it is going to come out...or that it'll be too soft, or too dark or too over exposed or just look shitty in general. I don't want to fuck this up. I have no time to reshoot and I doubt Jason would let me take an incomplete. Shit, I have so much incomplete work to do anyway (yay production 2.) I always have this terribly irrational fear about my film. Hopefully it is just paranoia.
Damn, I need to work on p2.
Mom and Dad are home. Everything is fine.
Class tomorrow...I need to not have this stupid peeling sunburn on my face by then. So not gonna happen. I never wear makeup to class, but I might just do it tomorrow so I don't scare away my classmates. I ran into my cute TA in the elevator today and I told him he wasn't allowed to look at me.
I'm tired. Really tired.
It's time to play the Sims for a couple hours.

Mildly flipping out, but it's not a big deal.
Seriously, I'm fine.
*eye twitch*
I'm totally willing to push it back to tomorrow at 3 if that's what it takes. I just need to get this done this weekend because I won't have the camera as of Monday.
update: Ian said he'll be in it...no actual confirmation yet, but I'm feelin' good about this one!

Yup, I'm back now.
C-dale was fun. I saw a lot of people...got to see the S&tC movie (which I loved, BTW, although I recognized all of the issues with it.)
It was a cool, relaxing weekend, which was just what I needed.
I totally didn't accomplish as much of my photo project as I needed to...but I'll do that this afternoon, no big.
Joe's coming up this week, so that's pretty cool.
I watched I'm Not There twice in one day. And then all the stuff on the bonus disc. And I just might watch it again today. Does anyone know if there's a way for me to contact Todd Haynes to tell him I love him?
Speaking of film love, I'm about to list off a series of films showing at the Music Box this summer:
Stop Making Sense - Midnight 7/4-5
Encounters at the End of the World (starting 7/11)
Citizen Kane - Matinee 7/19-20
Tron (oh yes, on a 70mm print...it will be glorious) 7/19
Vertigo (also in 70mm) 7/21-22
Contempt 8/1-7
This summer is gonna be awesome.

So, I really wanted to use my old Super-8 footage for this optical printing class.....but I can't find a reasonable way to get it transfered to 16mm. Everything is too damn expensive.
They say I can't use super 8 in the projector. I'm trying to figure out a way to make it work....there must be a way. That's the best footage I've ever shot and I'll be damned if I'm going to let it just sit in my drawer. Next week, I'm going in every day to work on that stuff.
Today, however, I'm exhausted.
I'm gonna go do my laundry now.
